This Viral Japanese Cheesecake has been my obsession lately. I’ve made it several times with many variations, and I’ve added my own touch to take it to the next level. It is a recipe you need to try.

Viral Japanese Cheesecake – My Way

I’ve tried the two-ingredient Japanese cheesecake, and let me tell you, it was just yogurt with cookies! It lacked that cheesecake taste and did not even come close.

It was healthy, protein-packed, but still not my favorite sweet snack. I’ve added different sweeteners, and it was much better. But when I tried it with Cottage cheese, bingo, that was it. It was rich, sweet, still sort of healthy-ish, and I made 4 different flavors for the 4 seasons of the year. Check out below for my favorite flavors.

    Ingredients

    • Cottage Cheese.
    • Flavored Sweeteners, here I’ve used: lemon curd (spring), strawberry jam (summer), apple sauce or apple pie filling (fall), and chocolate spread (winter).
    • Cookies: any type of cookies to match the flavor you choose. I’ve used lemon cookies, graham crackers, cinnamon graham crackers, and double chocolate cookies.

    Pro Tip

Blend the cottage cheese before scooping to get that creamy texture.

    Viral Japanese Cheesecake Recipe

A trendy Tiktok cheesecake recipe that uses Greek yogurt and cookies. Here is my take on the viral recipe using cottage cheese which in my opinion tastes even better.

    Prep Time: 5 minutes minutes

    Chilling For:: 8 hours hours

    Servings: 1 Jar

    Instructions

    • Place cottage cheese in a bowl and blend well using an immersion blender. Until creamy and smooth.

    • Pour the cottage in a jar or container then add the sweetener and mix well.

    • Press the cookies down into the cheese, cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.

    Notes

    • For the sweeteners, here is what I’ve tried:
1- Honey or maple syrup with a splash of vanilla
2- Lemon pie filling, or lemon curd
      3- Strawberry jam
      4- Chocolate Spread
      5- Cookie Butter
6- Apple sauce or Apple pie filling
    • Nutritional values calculated for the apple sauce sweetener.

    Final Thought

This was something for me and my husband, kids showed no interest in trying it. I liked the lemon, apple and strawberry jam versions more. While my husband, a non chocolate lover, surprisingly liked the strawberry and chocolate more.

The amount of sweetener and cookies depend on your liking. Add more or less to your taste.

    FAQs

Why is this called Japanese Cheesecake?

Obviously, this is not the fluffy baked traditional Japanese cheesecake. This is a viral Tiktok recipe that has started from a Japanese account, hence the name.

How long can I keep it in my fridge?

You can keep these jars in your fridge for up to 3 days. But freezing is not recommended.

    Can I make it healthier?

Of course, this is a very flexible recipe. Use low sugar jams, honey and fresh fruits, and your favorite cookies.
