Too Good To Go Review – trying out the Too Good To Go App, finding new places while enjoying great value and helping to reduce food waste.

    Too Good To Go Review

I’m really excited to share my too good to go review. I’ve been using the app for a few months now and have discovered a whole host of new favourite foods from different places I wouldn’t usually visit – all at an incredibly reduced price.

If you haven’t yet heard of Too Good To Go, it’s an app where restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and local stores such as grocery stores list surplus food at a significantly reduced price, usually at the end of the day.

The concept is a great way for the food to be eaten rather than thrown away, helping to reduce the environmental impact of food waste while consumers get to benefit from enjoying good food at a good deal.

My preference would be for leftover food to be donated to food banks, and Too Good To Go encourages businesses to attempt to donate the food first and if that just isn’t possible, usually due to logistical or cost reasons, then sharing the food on Too Good To Go is the way to go, to still be able to make a positive impact.

Navigating The Too Good To Go App Review

On the app you’ll find surprise boxes or magic bags that are filled with a mystery selection of foods. Sometimes whole foods or fresh produce such as fresh fruit and vegetables, sometimes takeaway meals, sandwiches or leftover baked goods will find their way into your tasty surprise bag.

Once you’ve found a mystery bag or box that you’d like to save, the app has an easy purchase process and you’re provided with a collection time, sometimes only a 15 minute window, to collect your food.

I’ve recently moved from Ireland to England, so the app has been a great way for me to discover local businesses and enjoy meals on the go, all at incredibly good value.

I always find it thrilling to discover exactly what the surprise bag contents are. Here’s a look at some of my recent finds:

    Chatwins Bakery

Chatwins Bakery Cheshire Too Good To Go Review

Local to Cheshire and surrounds, Chatwins Bakery bake up incredible bread, pastries, sandwiches, sausage rolls and other delectable goodies.

Over the past month I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy a Chatwins Bakery mystery bag on two separate occasions. The mystery bags are usually listed to be picked up in the late afternoon, shortly before the bakery closes for the day.

Each bag cost only £4.00 and had more than triple that of value in baked goodies and sandwiches.

    Teacakes, sandwich and sausage roll

    My first bag included:

    • 2 packages of teacakes
    • 1 sausage roll
    • 1 ciabatta sandwich
    Pastries, bread and sandwich

    My second bag included:

    • 1 box of creamy pastries
    • 1 ciabatta sandwich
    • 1 loaf of bread

I really appreciated the variety of each Too Good To Go bag from Chatwins, the sandwiches included a generous amount of filling, the teacakes were subtle sweet perfection, we adored the loaf of bread and those creamy pastries were each more dreamy than the next.

    The Pasty Shop

Pasty Shop Too Good To Go Review

At The Pasty Shop you’ll find, as the name suggests, a selection of mouthwatering Cornish Pasties and other tempting pastries.

I picked my bag up from Manchester Piccadilly Station on the way home, which included a pasty, sausage roll and Pain Au Chocolat, all for only £4.19.

I heated the Cornish Pasty and sausage roll up in the air fryer so they were fresh, warm, crisp and flavourful to perfection.

    Upper Crust

Upper Crust Baguettes and mystery bag contents

You’ll find Upper Crusts located at train stations around the UK. They’re a great place to quickly pick up a coffee, baguette or treat before embarking on a train journey.

Over the past couple of months I’ve picked up a total of 7 Upper Crust mystery bags, all of which have contained 3 baguettes or sandwiches, and sometimes also a croissant or sweet treat as well. I clearly love their mystery bags as I keep going back for more!

On this particular occasion, I picked the bag up from Crewe Train Station to enjoy with my family on a train journey and it included:

    • Cheese and Tomato Baguette
    • Tuna Baguette
    • Tuna Melt
    • Croissant

The price for the above haul of goodies was only £3.19! An absolute bargain when you compare to their listed prices of around £4-5 (or more) per item.

Overall, between myself, my husband and our 14 and 16 year old sons, all of the baguettes, sandwiches and extra treats are happily devoured, without a crumb going to waste.
