After closing for a brief revamp, the delightful progressive Indian restaurant Rooh in the Short North has reopened with a refreshed space, new dinner menu, and – what I’m most excited about – the addition of a limited run breakfast pop-up called Mornings by Rooh.

I was seriously geeked out over this, as I loved the owners’ Swadesi Cafe in Chicago. It offers such a delightful combination of flavors. Mornings by Rooh brings a similar Indian-inspired menu of breakfast sandwiches, pastries, coffee, chai, matcha, cocktails, and more.

Here’s a look at the menu!

I started with their jaggery, brown sugar, and sea salt latte. It’s absolutely delightful, and comes with an ube rice pudding cold foam on top. 10/10

Another winner for me was the mango ras malai croissant. It’s beautifully presented, creamy, and lightly sweet.

The Rooh egg sandwich layers a soft square of eggs with American cheese, crispy potato salli, a spicy mayo that brought back memories of Indian restaurants in London, and your choice of bacon or avocado on a potato bun.

I also tried the tandoori chicken croissant spiral, a dense and flavorful savory pastry with pickled onions on top.

And the brownie-like buckeye in Dubai tart.

I was honestly delighted by the menu, and I’m already planning a return visit to try more!

Mornings by Rooh is running Friday-Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

And of course, don’t skip Rooh’s dinner offerings!
