Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- After more than 17 years in business, the owners of Skillet in German Village announced they have ended their run. They cited an “opportunity we could not refuse.” Skillet first opened in 2009; although we hadn’t been there as frequently, early on I shared some good times with them, first appearing on Fox28 to feature them and getting to share air-time with them in the PBS documentary Breakfast Special!
- Dad’s Coneys and Wraps at Graceland Shopping Center abruptly closed up last weekend. The coney shop had been open for about five years. In a social media announcement, they said that Pine Coast Cafe will be taking over the space after a brief remodel. Pine Coast is a Michigan-based chain that has a location in Hilliard and serves burgers, ice cream, and halal dishes.
- I’m not sure how I missed it, but Shawerma Bite opened its new Easton last month at 4100 Worth Ave. It joins Columbus-area locations near campus and on Bethel Road.
- The Port of Peri Peri chicken shop is now open at 2513 Summit St. in SoHud.
- Thanks to Columbus Underground for the tip: a new African restaurant called Kiza Restaurant and Bar has opened at 155 N. Fifth St. downtown, in the former Holy Trinity Brewing space.
- The owners of the Roaming Rooster food truck announced that they have ended their run.
- Last week the locally based Esther Rum officially launched. You can find the rum at select local bottle shops and bars. Read more about it!
- On Sunday, March 1, Columbus Food Adventures is hosting a Love Is Blind-inspired brunch tour called Brunch is Blind, where guests will be taken to three surprise brunch spots.
This week I’m also writing:
