Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- Yesterday the Pearl Market downtown ended its run of more than three decades. First started in 1991, the market featured local vendors selling produce, coffee, baked goods, candies, and much more. It lined Pearl Alley between Gay and Broad streets.
- A new Mediterranean eatery called Linworth Grill is coming to the plaza at 2245 W. Dublin Granville Rd. An exact opening date hasn’t been announced yet.
- Smith and Wollensky steakhouse chain announced this week that they no longer plan to return to the Columbus market. After closing their longtime Easton location in 2023, they initially announced they were going to return at the ground floor of the Hyatt Regency downtown, but said instead they’re focusing on their international markets.
- A new hot dog spot called Dog Haus is coming soon to the Gateway University District. The chain features hot dogs, burgers, sausages, and other goodies.
- Early in September Vick’s Gourmet Pizza in Reynoldsburg closed after more than 60 years in business, but just last week they announced the decision to reopen on Monday, Oct. 20.
- The team at Happy Little Treats bakery is soft opening in their new space this weekend and next, before a full grand opening in a couple weeks. The new shop can be found at 1043 W. Third Ave. in Grandview.
- A new Yemeni coffee shop chain called Matari Coffee opened recently at 3001 Olentangy River Rd. It joins a growing list of Yemeni coffee shops opening around central Ohio. (Thanks to Columbus Food Adventures for the tip!)
- The owners of CRMED Ice Cream announced that they will be closing their Lewis Center location after Saturday, Oct. 25. The storefront sits at 5915 Evans Farm Dr.; their shop in Short North and their trucks remain open.
- The Bagels & Co. chain announced they’ll open a first Columbus shop next spring at the Rambler, the luxury apartments at 222 W. Lane Ave. near campus.
- The Genjigo hibachi restaurant location at 77 E. Gay St. downtown has closed. They still have five other locations around central Ohio.
- The MiaMar Grill has opened at 732 N. State St. in Westerville.
- This week Jenny’s Diner in Clintonville launched a taco truck, Gabriella’s Tacos. Keep an eye on their social media to see where they’ll be popping up!
- Fat Arnie’s Sandwich Shop will debut on Monday, Oct. 20 inside Rafter’s Beer Pub at 4404 Indianola Ave. in Clintonville.
- The Yappy Greek in Worthington seems to have moved to 193 E. Campus View Blvd., while their former space at 455 E. Wilson Bridge Rd. is now home to El Pariente Mexican Restaurant.

- It’s the week of the Circleville Pumpkin Show! The show runs through this Saturday, Oct. 18. (Reminder that you can get those amazing pumpkin donuts from Lindsey’s Bakery any time of year!)
- Zaftig Brewing’s Fall Fest is this Saturday, Oct. 18.
- The fried chicken sandwich pop-up Pigeon Mike’s hosts its next event this Sunday, Oct. 19 at Three Bites Bakery downtown, starting at 5 p.m.
- The Original Goodie Shop in Upper Arlington celebrates their 70th birthday this Saturday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Columbus Monthly‘s fall cocktail competition is coming on Thursday, Nov. 6 to Vitria on the Square. Tickets go on sale on Oct. 23.
