The Lion in Bexley opened in the fall of 2024 and quickly established itself as one of central Ohio’s top cocktail bars. To sweeten the deal, they did one of my favorite things a bar can do: they opened up as a coffee shop during the day!
The Lion’s cozy but swanky space is a little calmer in the morning hours. There are a few tables, counter seats, a row of cushioned seats along the wall.
The menu spans specialty lattes, classic espresso drinks, tea and tea lattes, a half dozen boozy drinks, and pastries from Breedlove Bakery.
First things first: if you serve me espresso in mezcal cups? I’m sold. Beautiful presentation of a nicely pulled shot from Royal Flamingo Coffee.
Kudos to the signature pistachio latte. Rich but not overly sweet.
Same for the iced white mocha latte.
The Lion serves a handful of sweet and savory pastries from Breedlove Bakery. We enjoyed a delicious ham and cheese hand pie.
And a rich slice of chocolate bakba!
The Coffee Shop at The Lion is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cocktail bar opens daily at 4 p.m.
