HangOverEasy Slings Chicken and Waffles, Lox, and Breakfast Sandwiches in Bridge Park

HangOverEasy has come a long way since opening their first location on Neil Avenue in 2002! Back then they were originally named – wait for it – Nick’s Diner, before they renamed themselves in 2008. I first visited that year and loved it, and have been back many times over the years. In that time, they’ve added a second Columbus location on Parsons Avenue in 2019 and have expanded to two locations in Cincinnati, one in Perrysburg, and one in Athens. And now: they’ve added a third local option in Dublin’s Bridge Park!

HangOverEasy has converted the former Kona Craft Kitchen space into its signature modern diner look, with a coffee and grab-and-go counter, long booths down the space, and signage that reminds you, “Breakfast Cures All.”

The abrupt closure of Kona Craft Kitchen in the fall of 2023 left a breakfast-sized hole in Bridge Park’s dining offerings. The neighborhood covers lunch, dinner, and brunch very nicely, but an early breakfast option was lacking.

True to its origins as a campus-adjacent breakfast dive, HangOverEasy leans in with risqué-sounding dish names, plenty of plays on their initials of HOE, and music posters on the wall.

This location is unique in that they offer a full coffee bar with brewed coffee, espresso drinks, cold brew, Vietnamese coffees, and more.

Bonus points for sourcing their beans from One Line Coffee!

And for fresh-squeezing their juices daily.

We’ve always had great breakfasts at HOE, and our first visit to Dublin was no exception!

We started with the Cider House Rules, a trio of baked apple cider donuts with a very earthy Aleppo pepper chocolate sauce.

I’ve long been a fan of their chicken and waffles. They get a buttermilk and hot sauce marinade before being served with Milligan’s maple syrup and thyme butter.

Hard to argue with their omelets, like this Philly omelet!

Or the HOE benny layered with eggs, chorizo, avocado, cheese, and pico de gallo.

I loved the Classic Bodega breakfast sandwich: an everything bun loaded with scrambled egg, bacon, American cheese, and a remoulade. I especially loved the HOE fries. This, my friends, is how to do home fries. Not these pre-diced little cubes, but big chunks of potatoes with crispy golden edges and proper seasoning. It reminded me of the potatoes at my hometown joint, Real Food Cafe in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

One of the standouts, though, was the Lox Around the Clock. It’s unique to the Dublin HangOverEasy and features smoked salmon, served with egg salad on an everything bagel, plus boursin, whipped cream cheese, giardiniera, and pickled red onion.

I appreciate the grab-and-go options, too, from coffee and pastries to quick breakfast sandwiches.

    “Breakfast Cures All” indeed!

HangOverEasy Dublin is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
