Columbus, our newest spot for a unique sushi experience is here: Hokkaido Revolving Sushi Bar! The slick new sushi restaurant opened recently in the Bethel Center, that bustling hub of international restaurants that includes Fiery Sky Asian Kitchen, Meshikou, New India, and many others.

Hokkaido joins the one other sushi conveyor belt shop in Columbus, the Polaris location of the chain Kura Revolving Sushi Bar.

Our one other experience with sushi bars like these is Kura, and while Hokkaido offers fun details like robots delivering dishes to your table, it’s not as flashy or over-the-top as Kura can be, with its video displays, dish return slot, games, and rewards.

Hokkaido is distinguished by using the all-you-can-eat model, with a set price, a time limit of two hours, and a combination of dishes you order through your server and plates of sushi that travel by your table.
Monday through Friday the pricing is $22.95 for adults and $11.95 for kids (at lunch) and $35.95 for adults and $17.95 for kids (at dinner). Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays they feature the dinner pricing all day.

The extensive menu includes classic and signature sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi (at dinner only), plus appetizers, ramen, poke bowls, tea, and other small plates.

All through your meal you can grab sushi and nigiri from the conveyor belt.

The dishes usually travel clumped together with a little sign describing each one.

While Hokkaido might not offer the best sushi in Columbus, the quality is generally good and consistent.

Your server will stop by regularly to take orders for any other full sushi rolls, small plates, sashimi, drinks.

Depending on how frequently you’re snagging sushi from the conveyor belt, your table may fill up quickly with plates, but they help clear dishes frequently.

To add to the charm, some of your items will arrive via little robots that skirt the top of the conveyor belts. It’s funny seeing them scoot around the space.

You’re also welcome to visit the salad bar with side dishes, sauces, desserts, and more bites to complement your meal.

We enjoyed a round of sashimi.

Plus small plates like bao buns…

…and tempura fried veggies.

We liked the karaage, too!

If you’re new to the conveyor belt sushi concept, Hokkaido is a great place to start! We’d especially recommend going with a group to get the full experience.
Hokkaido Revolving Sushi Bar is open Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. (they transition from lunch to dinner at 3 p.m.), and Saturday-Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
